SAFE EXPERIENCES in santapark - the home cavern of the santa claus

We offer safe Christmas experiences at SantaPark in the 2021–2022 winter season. We have taken various measures to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.

There are several hand sanitising points and hand washing facilities in Santa’s home cavern.

Please be responsible and only come to SantaPark if you are feeling well.

Here are some tips for a safe visit to SantaPark. We reserve the right to make changes to these guidelines.

  • We recommend that all visitors over the age of 12 wear a face covering throughout their visit to SantaPark. If you forget to bring your own face mask, you can buy one at any of our cash desks.
  • Please keep your hands clean by washing them regularly in the sinks provided in our toilet facilities and/or by using the many touchless hand sanitising points on site.
  • Maintain a safe distance to other people.
  • If you need to sneeze, please use a tissue/sleeve, for example. 
  • It is recommended that payments are made by card.
  • We do not ask our visitors to show a Covid pass as there are no Covid restrictions in place in Rovaniemi.
  • If you start feeling unwell during your visit, please be responsible and leave Santa’s cavern without delay. If necessary, we can take you to a separate room while you wait for a lift, for example. Contact a member of our staff.

  • All staff members are trained in hygiene and safety measures to make use you can enjoy a safe visit. We do our best to make your visit to SantaPark a safe one. 
  • Our staff will wear face masks on site throughout your visit.
  • You can also meet Santa Claus safely. Santa does not wear a face mask, but there is protective plexiglass in Santa’s office to protect both our visitors and Santa. Please note that Santa does not shake hands or hug our visitors.
  • We conduct enhanced cleaning and the delivery of clean air has been increased in the entire cavern.
  • If the daily visitor capacity is exceeded, we will close the cavern doors for a while. The doors will be opened again when there is enough space in the cavern. You can wait for the doors to open at the main door.


Since the very long time ago, Santa Claus Secret Forest - Joulukka has been a safe shelter for Christmas top secrets in the heart of Lapland for both fairytale creatures and its visitors.

The safety of You, your children, other guests, elves, trolls, reindeer, and other forest visitors and creatures is our top priority and we are paying special attention to ensure the maximum of it. We would like to assure you that the magic of Christmas keeps on living and all the essential fairy-tale elements of the experience stay in place. If you would like to know how exactly your chosen program is influenced by these additional safety procedures, please, do not hesitate to contact us – we would be delighted to advise you.

Kindly notice, that the measures listed below are based on the guidance from Finnish Government and the National Health Service, supported by industry specific advice from Visit Finland and MaRa. We are also consulting Lapland Central Hospital for the latest instructions for the area. Due to the constantly changing nature of this guidance and advice, we will be reviewing and immediately updating our internal operating practices and protocols. Information below may therefore change without notice.


Small alterations to the experience content to be expected

  • The pickup for the experience will be done outside of the hotel by the front doors to avoid crowding.
  • Transfers to group programs are group transfers. In case you rather wish to have a private transfer, feel free to contact our sales via – they will be delighted to provide this possibility with extra charge.
  • Since our fairy-tale team follow the policy of no physical contact and social distancing, Santa Claus and elves are unable to shake hands, receive hugs, kisses and be involved in any other physical contact.
  • We want to protect children and adults who visit Santa Claus – Santa will be provided with plexiglass shield in his meeting room.
  • Santa Claus and elves are unable to take guests’ own letters and own gifts to be passed on to the children participating in the experience. However, please, note that in cases when your chosen fairy-tale experience includes a gift, it will be gifted by the elf during the meeting with Santa.
  • Pictures with Santa are possible. Our lovely staff will take pictures with Santa using your devices, disinfecting before and after the use.  Masks can be taken off for the photo.
  • We want to remind you that during our group programs guests enter Santa’s Secret Christmas Command Center (where they meet Santa) family by family – one family per room at a time.
  • No self-service buffet meals are carried out until further notice.


Safety in Santa Claus Secret Forest - Joulukka

  • Hand sanitizers will be available upon entry/exit to/from all indoor public areas.
  • All public indoor areas will be equipped with rubbish bins that are emptied regularly.
  • All public indoor areas (Kota/ Command Center/ Iso Tokka/ Forest Hut/ Toy Factory) will be disinfected regularly throughout the day.
  • We are paying extra attention to sanitize toilets and contact surfaces such as tables, benches, handles, knobs, switches etc.
  • Any shared facilities (toilets, changing rooms and etc.) will be cleaned and disinfected regularly throughout the day.
  • Interiors and furniture will be rearranged to create more space and avoid crowding.
  • Safe distance will be created and maintained between the members of different households (families, couples, groups of friends travelling and accommodated together) and between guests and the members of staff during the programs
  • Our staff will be using a protective equipment for nose and mouth if our staff member is located within 2 meters of a guest or/if the contact situation lasts longer than 15 minutes.


Contribute to the safety of your Fairytale Experience

  • Before joining the activity, we kindly ask our guests to self-assess their physical condition and self-screen their risk profile. If they have symptoms, even mild, or are in a family where someone has symptoms, they are strongly advised to stay at the accommodation and be in touch with the health authorities for further proceedings immediately.
  • Be advised that in cases when the guest is displaying symptoms of Covid-19 we reserve the right to cancel guests (and his/her household’s) participation in the activity and refuse entry on to the transportation vehicle. Please, note that this measure is necessary to help protect other guests as well as the fairy-tale creatures.
  • We would like to remind every guest to take personal face mask. Please put on the face mask while you are awaiting your transportation and keep it on till the end of the experience.

  •  We would like to highly encourage every guest to carry own sanitizers and own disposable tissues for coughing.
  • Physical distancing should be practiced as much as possible if the group involves more than one household (families, couples, groups of friends travelling and accommodated together). How each individual moves about throughout the experience will greatly influence group’s distancing practices – elf guides will lead through the experience.
  • Access to hand washing facilities and sanitizer will be provided. We will ask that guests sanitize hands when entering any building, or dining facility, before starting an activity and as often as needed throughout the activity.
  •  Any extra equipment needed for tailor-made activity will be cleaned and disinfected between each guest use or one time use equipment will be provided.


How our team contributes to safety of your Fairytale Experience

  • All fairytale team members are informed about the virus prevention measures and trained to gently secure the safety of all our guests throughout the experience.
  • All fairytale team members are required to wash their hands (or use hand sanitizer) regularly.
  • All fairytale team members are required to wear PPE as appropriate, if guided by the health officials.
  • The fairytale team and Santa Claus will follow a policy of no physical contact and maintain social distancing, wherever possible.
  •  Alternative work methods and scheduling has been implemented to secure social distancing.
  • All fairytale team members are required to monitor their personal health before leaving for the Secret Forest and stay home if unwell.
  • All fairytale team members are required to follow official guidance on self-isolating.


Safety during Dining Experiences

  • Hand-sanitizers available upon entry and exit of each dining area.
  • All tables and chairs will be cleaned and disinfected between each guest.
  • Adequate safe distance between tables will be maintained.
  • Waitering staff will be wearing face masks to secure the safe dining experience.
  • No self-service buffet meals are carried out until further notice.
  • Any shared objects (salt/pepper/sugar/sauces) to be cleaned and disinfected between each guest use. Alternatively, single servings/sachets are provided.
  • We promote using contactless card payment.


Safety during Transportation

  • We will use private vehicles for transportation where possible.
  • Every transportation option will be fitted with a sanitizer.
  • Every vehicle will have a bin (with a lid) that is emptied at every viable opportunity.
  • Every vehicle will be cleaned and disinfected regularly throughout the day.
